Friends of a Feather October 2018 Paper Pumpkin Kit

Our high temp for today is only 46 and we have 5 to 10mph winds out of the NW which makes it feel colder yet.  Brrrr ... it does look like the next two days will be nice enough to do some yardwork ... Yay!

An update on our new additions to our family:  If you have been an avid reader of my blog, then you know that we had a family of cats move in under our deck on the back of our house.  We are down to 3 of the kittens which have grown so quickly.  I've named the Tiger looking kitten Tig's (short for Tigers), the Gray and White Kitten is Tipper (the tip of his gray tail is white) and the Gray Tiger kitten is Smokey (he is gray with darker gray stripes and hints of Silver in his coat).

My Hubby is not that fond of cats; but, he researched the internet for outdoor cat houses and built them a little house.  He put an opening in the front end and then the side front that is small, yet big enough for the kittens to go in an out, so that they have two avenues of escape in case a raccoon or other critter tries to hurt them.  Randy also put styrofoam inside the house on all four walls, the top and the bottom.  We then purchased a bale of straw and lined the floor with some of it and then put the rest of the bale on the outside top of the house.  And, of course, I had to put a nice blanky in the bottom for some extra warmth.

Tig's is the runt and is now tame enough that he will cuddle up to me on the inside of my coat.  He is waiting for me every morning and when I open up the kitchen door, there is Tig's and he is making his 'Sqwak' noise.  He sounds so pitiful and it just breaks your heart to hear it.  I don't think he has learned a real Meow yet.  And ... Tig's takes after me and is a real Klutz!!!  😊😊😊

Tipper is a real hoot and so much fun to play with.  I wish I had a video option as he would probably win a prize.  Tipper will let me pet him and he will sit next to me; but, he won't let me pick him up yet.

Smokey is still very, very timid and scared of his own shadow.  He is just now letting me touch his coat once or twice and then goes and hides under the wrought iron love seat.

They have been a lot of work and a lot of fun too!  Randy bought an extendable plastic rod and we tied some elastic on the end of the rod and then a stuffed mouse on the end of the elastic.  We all have a blast playing with the mouse.  They are so fast when they go after the mouse as I swing it back and forth.  Anyways, we have decided to keep the 3 kittens after everything we went through with the other kitten and the Mother and Father cat.  I just wish we were going into Spring instead of Winter.  So, there is me all bundled up and playing with kittens in this cold weather!  😊😊😊
