Stampin' Up! You Are My Anchor April 2018 Paper Pumpkin - Alternate Card I

Wow...I think we went from Winter right into Summer.  It's supposed to be in the 80's today with full sun.  Finally...yay!

My share for today is an Alternate Card that I designed using Stampin' Up's You Are My Anchor April 2018 Paper Pumpkin .  Let's take a look:

O.K.  I LOVE anything Nautical; but, I don't know all the Nautical terminology so please bare with me as I try to explain the Boat that I created.  (You can laugh at me anytime while reading my blog post and that's if you really have time to read it!)  😊😊😊

My Card Base is Calypso Coral Cardstock cut at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored and folded at 4-1/4" for a top folding Card.

My Bottom Card Front Panel is the Pool Party Dotted pattern from Stampin' Up's Delightful Daisy Designer Series Paper cut at 1" x 5" and adhered to the Bottom of my Card Base with Mono Multi Purpose Glue.

My Top Card Front Panel is the Pool Party Cloud pattern from SU's Myths & Magic Specialty DSP cut at 2-3/4" x 5" and adhered to the Top of my Card Base with Mono Multi Purpose Glue.

I trimmed out two Strips of the Island Indigo Striped Cards from the Kit to 1" x 2-1/4".  I then trimmed off the ends of the Strips on an angle so they each measure 2-1/4" at the Top and 1-1/2" at the Bottom.

I adhered both Strips a 1/2" up from the Bottom of the Designer Series Paper with Mono Multi Purpose Glue as shown in the picture above.

I trimmed out a Strip of Island Indigo Cardstock to measure 1/8" x 2-1/2" for the Mast and adhered it to the Boat with Mono Multi Purpose Glue as shown in the picture above.

For the Sails and the Flag:
I trimmed out the Island Indigo Anchor Card from the Kit to measure 2-1/8" x 2-1/8" and then trimmed it in half from corner-to-corner.  I adhered the Sail to the Left of the Mast with Stampin' Dimensionals.

I trimmed out the Calypso Coral Card from the Kit to measure 1-3/4" x 1-3/4" and then trimmed it in half from corner-to-corner.  I adhered the Sail to the Right of the Mast with Stampin' Dimensionals.

I trimmed out another piece of the Calypso Coral Card to measure 7/8" x 7/8" and then trimmed it in half from corner-to-corner.

Using the You Are My Anchor Stamp Set from the Kit, I stamped the Star Fish in Island Indigo Ink onto the Flag.  Using SU's Fine Tip Glue Bottle Adhesive, I covered the Star Fish with the Adhesive and let it dry.  I then adhered the Flag to the Top of the Mast with Stampin' Dimensionals as shown in the picture above.

For my Windows (which I think are called Portholes - O.K. you can start laughing here):
Using You Are My Anchor Stamp Set, I stamped the Steering Wheel (which I think is called the Helm - You can start laughing again now!) in Island Indigo Ink onto Whisper White Cardstock and punched them out with my SU 1/2" Circle Punch.  I adhered the 3 Portholes to the side of my Boat with Stampin' Dimensionals.

I also stamped the Anchor in Island Indigo Ink and fussy cut it out.

Using SU's 1/16" Handheld Hole Punch, I punched a hole in the end of the Anchor (I punched mine several times to get the hole big enough for the Rope Twine to fit through the hole.)

I cut a long length of the Rope Twine, thread one end through the hole in the Anchor and adhered it to the back of the Anchor with Mono Multi Purpose Glue.  I then adhered a tiny piece of Stampin' dimensional to the back of the Anchor and adhered it to my Card as shown in the picture above.

I adhered one of the die cut Hearts to the Boat with a tiny piece of Stampin' Dimensional.

I wove the long end of the Rope Twine around the Portholes as shown in the picture above.  I applied a little bit of Mono Multi Purpose Glue around the dimensional under the Heart and wrapped the end of the Rope Twine around the dimensional and trimmed off the end of the Rope Twine.

Using You Are My Anchor Stamp Set, I stamped the Birds twice and the AHOY in one of the clouds.

A little Nautical Terminology from the Web:

When looking forward, toward the bow of a ship, port and starboard refer to the left and right sides, respectively. In the early days of boating, before ships had rudders on their centerlines, boats were controlled using a steering oar.

A porthole, sometimes called bull's-eye window or bull's-eye, is a generally circular window used on the hull of ships to admit light and air. ... A porthole on a ship may also be called a sidescuttle or side scuttle (side hole), as officially termed in the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea.

The part of a ship or boat that floats on the water is called the Hull. The front part is called the bow and the back part is called the stern.

Now, did I make a Boat, a Ship or a Sail Boat???  And, what end is the BOW and what end is the STERN???  Too funny; yet, I did learn a lot!  😊😊😊  I bet you didn't think that a Boat Blog Post could be educational too!  😊😊😊

COLOR-REVAMP_DEMO_HEADER_USCA

In order to keep bringing you the most current and on trend colors, Stampin' Up! decided it was time to give their color collections a makeover.

With this revamp, you’ll not only have new products, but also have a new variety of shades that will inspire creativity and allow you to explore more sides of your crafting.

There are still four color collections, each with ten colors. There is also a new color group called Basics.
.
In order to keep their color collections to exclusive Stampin’ Up! colors, they moved Basic Black, Very Vanilla, and Whisper White out of the Neutrals collection and also moved a few colors into the Neutrals collection, making it more exciting and colorful!

Some additional colors have changed collections as well—you’ll notice this as you look through the new collections in the 2018-2019 Annual Catalog.  These changes were based on needing to maintain color balance in our updated collections.

In addition to new colors, they also redesigned their ink pads. The case is a new, more intuitive design and they’ve improved the formula of the ink, as well! We think you will love these changes.

As a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator, I was able to order the new In-Color Ink Pads and I just LOVE the new design.  Stampin' Up! never ceases to amaze me!

PLEASE GIVE CREDIT WHERE CREDIT IS DUE!

I recently discovered that people are using my cards and/or projects, duplicating them and entering them into challenges, using them for their own card classes and (using them on their blogs as their own creations) - Please give credit where credit is due.  My cards and projects are my own creations and are not to be used in challenges, blog hops, card classes or sold at craft shows; etc., for profit.  I don't mind if you duplicate my creativity to pass on to family members or friends as gifts or Occasions cards; but,  PLEASE be considerate of others creativity!  Thank you!
