Flood Pic's - My Heart Breaks for Midland, Michigan and Surrounding Counties

Well, my heart just breaks for the families and the environment in Midland, Michigan and surrounding Counties.  It continues to give me goose bumps and makes my heart race every time I see the devastation left by the Edenville Dam Failure, the Sanford Lake Dam Breach and the Broken Poseyville Dkye and all the way down South to Saginaw where all their bridges are closed and beyond.  You now need to go North just to get out around the Saginaw River which has been just like my Husband and I.  All our roads were closed where a tributary of the Kawkawlin River continues to over flow onto and out of our property and over the roads around us.  Today, we are finally able to go in all directions as the waters recede.  Normally, I would happily be doing my Stampin' Up! blog; but, the flooding has taken a toll on all of us.  As if a Virus wasn't enough!!!

I'm posting some pic's from the Curtis Road Bridge collapse in Edenville.  We were not able to get near Edenville as the Albright Shores Bridge is also gone as is half of the long Bridge on M30 by Strykers Marina in Edenville where our boat slip is located.  And, there were police, fire departments, Consumers Energy trucks; etc. blocking the roads as all the electrical lines were downed across the roads, in peoples yards and all over the place.  I don't think that I have ever seen so many Consumer Energy trucks in my life.  I never saw such devastation in my life.  We did see from an aerial view on TV that our hoist was still in the water by the docks on Wixom Lake at the Marina on Monday; but, we don't know if it is still there as of yet.  We were going to put our pontoon in Wixom Lake on Monday; but, it just would not stop raining.  And … Wowzers, it is a good thing that we didn't get it in the lake.

This is what we saw when we parked at the top of the hill on Curtis Road in Edenville.

Lots and lots of spectators walking around, residents walking around and trying to clean up their yards and residents moving furniture, carpet, clothes; etc. and piling it all up along the road.  A horrible site indeed!!!

These pic's just don't compare to the devastation as you would see it in real life.

You can see where the water line was on this first house.  Just slightly above the window.

And, part of this house is gone...

There used to be houses here...

Tree's were uprooted and laying all over.

There were News Reporters all over.  We saw Channel 12 and Fox News 2.  This Reporter and Cameraman were from Fox New 7 out of Detroit.  This is also a pic of the water still moving down towards Sanford as of yesterday afternoon.

And, these aren't all little tree's either.  Some were quite large.

You can see in the back where the guard rail is all gnarled and bent over the road.  I still cannot believe how much of the Curtis Road Bridge is gone!!!  Unbelievable!!!  And, this isn't the worst of it all.

A child's life jacket is in the debris piled up on the road which is just covered in sand in some area's.

You can see the residents furniture in the background out in their yard.

Among all the debris, you can see a part of a bottle of pills sitting on the abutment in the right side of this pic.  Metal, hunks of Styrofoam, wood, tar paper, buckets, bottles and on and on and on.

After evacuating 11,000 Midland residents, there are no fatalities and not one person was injured.  Just amazing!!!

And … now they are saying that they are going to empty Secord Lake and Smallwood Lake so they can inspect those Dam's also which means more water to come our way and go South of us.  Supposedly, the residents will have 3 days to get their boats; etc. out of the lakes which will be towards the end of May.  Yikes!!!  I sure hope that goes well.

I am thankful for the next couple of nice and sunny days so we can dry out.

All my best to everyone!!!

Lynn
