Personal Note and A Time Out
My Husband had a heart surgery procedure called The Watchman Implant last week. He is doing very well; but, we are taking some time to heal and slow our lives down a bit. The Watchman Implant is a one-time, minimally invasive procedure for people with atrial fibrillation not caused by a heart valve problem who need an alternative to blood thinners. Through some prior testing, we learned that Randy was a good candidate for this procedure.

How The WATCHMAN Device Works
To understand how the WATCHMAN Implant works, it helps to know
more about the connection between atrial fibrillation and stroke.
Atrial fibrillation, or AFib, affects your heart’s ability to
pump blood normally. This can cause blood to pool in an area of the heart
called the left atrial appendage, or LAA. There, blood cells can stick together
and form a clot. When a blood clot escapes from the LAA and travels to another
part of the body, it can cut off the blood supply to the brain, causing a
stroke.1,2
In people with AFib not caused by a heart valve problem, more
than 90% of stroke-causing clots that come from the heart are formed in the
LAA.1 That’s why closing off this part of the heart is an
effective way to reduce stroke risk.
The WATCHMAN Implant fits right into your LAA. It’s designed to
permanently close it off and keep those blood clots from escaping. The WATCHMAN
Implant is about the size of a quarter and made from very light and compact
materials commonly used in many other medical implants.
AND...
We have been helping Randy's Brother remodel a house so he can move in soon. We were hoping that would happen by Sept. 1st; but, the floors are taking longer than expected. The floors are Oak hardwood floors that Brother is sanding, staining and varnishing by himself. So, with Randy being laid up, we fell behind some and I can only do the 'Gopher' duties, errands and little, easy tasks.
So, another reason that we had to take a step back. Hopefully, soon, Randy will be healed, Brothers house will be move in ready and I will back at my paper crafting and Rockin' my blog again!!!
