It's a beautiful, cold day outside today in Midland, Michigan. We got 5" of snow yesterday and my Hubby just got us plowed out. Our high temp for today is 23F with a low tonight of 11F. Brrr... The winds are N at 5 to 10mph.
My share for today is a Mother's Day Card that I designed using Stampin' Up! products from the 2020-2021 Annual Catalog and the new 2021 Mini Occasions Catalog. Let's take a look:
I actually put my Hubby's Brother to work as he has been living with us while he recovers from a couple surgeries. Once he was feeling better, I gave him a stack of Card Bases, Card Front Panels and my colored Flowers and asked him to pick out colors that he liked and that went well together. So, pictured above is the Card that he came up with...I think he did really, really well.
For today's Card, I colored my Flowers from Stampin' Up!'s True Love Designer Series Paper with Sponge Daubers. I have a special technique when I color with Sponge Daubers on a group of Flowers like the ones on today's Card.
I trimmed out a group of flowers, not fussy cut, by leaving more of the white border around the flowers. While holding this group of Flowers in my hand, I manipulate the paper as I am daubing on the ink.
So, I start with the Dauber at the tips of the petals and bend the paper a little so I am keeping most of the ink within the black lines. I don't worry about going outside of the lines with this technique. You start at the largest part of the petal and pull the ink down towards the flowers' center. I colored all the petals this way trying to maintain a solid color of ink (no shading or making one part darker than the other. I then move to the inside part of the petal around the flowers' center and daub more ink on by pulling the ink outward towards the tips of the flowers leaving the tips of the flower with less ink. I hope that makes sense.
When I am satisfied with my ink coverage, I then fussy cut out the flowers.
This is my own technique on how to color Large Flowers with a Sponge Dauber.
So, my Card Base is Rococo Rose Cardstock.
My Card Front Panel is Blackberry Bliss cut to measure 3-3/4" x 5".
Using my new Stampin' Up! Cut & Emboss Machine, I ran my Blackberry Bliss Card Front Panel through with the new Painted Texture Emboss Folder. I'm lovin' this new folder too!!! What an awesome depth of texture.
I adhered my Card Front Panel to my Card Base with Stampin' Dimensionals.
I colored my Flowers with Blushing Bride Ink.
I colored the Flower Centers with Mango Melody Ink.
I colored the Leaf and Bud Stem with Soft Sea Foam.
I gave each petal and leaf a little curl for some added dimension and adhered them to my Card with Stampin' Dimensionals.
Using the new Wrapped Bouquet Stamp Set, I stamped Happy Mother's Day onto a scrap of Soft Sea Foam Cardstock.
Using the Tasteful Labels Dies, I die cut out my Greeting and a larger Label from Blushing Bride Cardstock.
Using a Sponge Dauber, I sponged around both Labels with their respective inks.
I adhered both Labels to my Card with Mono Multi Glue.
I cut 1 length of Blushing Bride Twine and one length of White Twine from the new Snail Mail Twine Combo Pack. Using my Light Soft Sea Foam Stampin' Blend marker, I colored the White thread with the marker. I tied the two Twine's together and adhered them to my Labels.
I adhered Gold Glitter Enamel Dots to the front of my Card as shown in the picture above.
Thanks Bro' for helping me with my Card!!!
Tell someone you LOVE them and/or give someone an AIR HUG today!!!
Have a Blessed Day!!!
